no such thing as perfect balance

A good friend was at a tai chi lesson, and having one of those days where she was constantly getting knocked off center. In frustration, she asked her teacher “how is it that you maintain such perfect balance all the time?” “I don’t,” he replied, “I get off balance all the time. I’ve just learned to re-balance faster. “photo credit: mnorri

lessons in suffering

Of all the baby chicks, the only one that has a name - Cheeky - is the one who became ill. Watching her suffer, and not knowing if she was going to make it in time for the medicine to kick in, was so hard to witness. A caring heart will be touched by witnessing the suffering of others. An unhealthy heart, on the other hand, will tear itself apart. I learn again and again that you do what you can do on the material and spiritual planes, then you must return to center and compassion. Not eating, not sleeping, worrying one’s self into illness - this does not help the one that is ill or otherwise effected.

I am grieved that it is your suffering, Cheeky, that is teaching me this lesson yet again. May you be healed quickly.
